The seminar includes an overview of industry challenges, facilitated discussion about your firm’s strategic position and identification of action steps to achieve targeted results through strategic talent and performance management.
Partner Program: Managing the multiple responsibilities of a law firm Partner
As the law firm partner role has grown increasingly complex in every aspect, from scope of legal matters to business development to managing talent and resources, Managing the multiple responsibilities of a law firm Partner is a half-day leadership development workshop offering Partners practical tools for maintaining a proactive approach to managing legal matters, strengthening relationships within the firm and with clients, as well as managing stress and personal leadership pressures. The course materials provide participants the opportunity to design their personal management plan to facilitate continued effectiveness in all areas of their management responsibilities, and optional follow up executive coaching offers ongoing individual leadership development and management skills enhancement.
New Partner program: Business Development and the Client Relationship Cycle
Business Development and Managing the Client Relationship is a one-day client development skills program designed to help new Partners develop a strategic approach to building a successful practice - from marketing to client needs assessment to execution to follow up - and the commanding presence that is necessary for Business Development. To ensure relevance to participating lawyers and usefulness of the materials produced in the program, participants will receive all training around case studies of real prospective and current clients of their choice. The program consists of four key components to effective Business Development, and an optional Media Training component:
- Defining your unique expertise and value proposition
- The client relationship cycle: effectively targeting your marketing efforts, effective client interaction strategies, and making the client your ambassador
- Tools for strengthening the client relationship: understanding your personal style of communication and how to build strong client relationships with different personality styles
- Creating your individual strategic practice development plan
- Building your profile in the media (optional)

Associate program: Law firm career management
An opportunity to build skills for career advancement at the Associate-level, Law firm career management is a half-day seminar designed specifically for law firm Associates to support them in managing their careers. The intensive session offers participants processes to assess their areas of development against your firm’s specific performance criteria and define their strengths and motivations in alignment with your firm’s value proposition; a communication skills component to strengthen Associates’ capacity to influence relationships with Partners, clients and peers; and tools for building a client pipeline. Highly practical, the session offers exercises and tools for direct application towards success in the legal profession.
All levels: Building professional relationships and managing conflict
Building professional relationships and managing conflict is a half-day workshop designed to strengthen participants’ skills in building and managing relationships with clients and colleagues, and constructively manage conflict. Among other practical techniques, participants learn how to use verbal language to build rapport with different types of people by understanding their thinking patterns, how to use body language to win confidence and influence others, and how to facilitate meetings and reach agreement in conflict situations by understanding the different filters that people use to interpret information.
All levels: Managing stress
Managing Stress is a 2-hour seminar tailored to address the common challenges of work-life balance and the specific symptoms of work-related stress such as anxiety and sleeplessness. Based on techniques from Neuro-Linguistic Programming and Hypnotherapy, participants will learn practical and personalized methods for maintaining inner balance under pressure as well as taking charge of limiting emotional symptoms related to stress.
